Google an American multinational technology company decided to expand the categories in its android play store in a bid to make the operating system more user friendly and easily accessible. The google decided to add-on 8 new categories in Google Play Store in the coming two months. Till now Google Play Store has apps widely categorised into Android Wear, Games, and Family. The sub categories under these include apps from Social, Music & Audio, and Books & Reference. Now, the new categories will added by search giant include apps from 'Art & Design', 'Auto & Vehicles', 'Beauty', 'Dating', 'Events', 'Food & Drink', 'House & Home', and 'Parenting'. These categories make app finding easy on Google Play Store. Additionally Google going to change names for some of the old categories like ‘Maps and Navigation’ will changed to ‘Transportation’ and ‘Video Players and Editors’ will changed to ‘Media and Video’.
One of Google Play Apps' executive concerned with Business Development Department, Sarah Karam, wrote in the Android developers blog, “To improve the overall search experience, we’re introducing new app categories and renaming a few existing ones, making them more comprehensive and relevant to what users are looking for today.”
Search giant also incorporated a ‘Family Library’, In which family members can share apps purchased by one user on the Google play store. Any application, ranging from games to movies to books can be shared with upto six family members.
